TIME WILL TELL
Oh Lad, I still miss you so much,
The hurt is still here deep inside,
Oh what I would give for one touch,
One touch of your smooth terrier hide.
Some say, “he was only a dog!”
In essence those words may be true,
I think back and my eyes seem to fog,
Some people just don’t have a clue.
Fifteen years of love I’d gladly given,
I loved you so much now you’re gone,
Fifteen years, you made life worth the living,
Now my life without you moves on.
There are times I too miss my husband
There are times I miss my old Mother as well,
They’re both living in full time care now,
At least that’s what the letters may spell,
I thought that when I wed it was forever,
I never meant to desert my dear Mum,
But sometimes there are ties that you must sever.
You just dread the severing when the time has come,
“If I had my time to live over”, years ago I
Heard an old woman singing.
When we were young in those sweet fields of clover,
How could we imagine, what time years later would be bringing!
