RETIRED
I played as a child and worked as a man
Now I’m retired and I’ve got me a plan
Try and be different and let yourself go
Life is so precious lets go with the flow
Painting and Artwork are two of the things
I’ve started already I’m spreading my wings
Planting and growing it makes me feel good
I wish they’d grow bigger, if only they would
I used to build houses and sell them to folks
Always about business and no telling jokes
Now that has changed for better you see
I cannot stop laughing, my humour is free
Writing my memoirs and penning some verse
Is spending my time that’s tranquil, not terse
Finance is awkward, it gets in the way
Pensions and savings are needed to pay
The mortgage is done and dusted almost
Thinking of selling to live near the coast
But this is our home and warm in my heart
Memories to cherish, I’m sad to depart
But gambler I am, compulsive its true
Spent all our money that’s why we feel blue
The debtors are near and outside the door
But solvent I’ll be and close to the shore
Time is the essence of living your dream
Trying to give it is hard in extreme
When PD is party to all that you hope
Its family that suffers and maybe can’t cope
So don’t try to fight it, what’s part of you now
Just learn how to temper and soothe it somehow
You might be a rebel, no surrender your shout
This round you may win, PD wins the bout.
Treat as your brother or sister or aunt
You mustn’t say never, I won’t or I can’t
My life as it stands gets happier each day
I’ve learned to adapt in a positive way
My children are happy, contented my wife
You’ve looked in my soul, my mind and my Life
