ON THE BIRTH OF THE ROYAL BABY (PRINCE WILLIAM)
(& acknowledged by the Prince & Princess of Wales)
Nestled in his Mother's arms,
So safe and so secure,
This little baby sees a world
That he's not seen before,
His parents are Prince and Princess,
But of that he's not aware,
All he wants are sheltering arms
And the warmth of loving care,
Gentle hands to hold him close,
A soothing voice to hear
And the security of knowing
Someone loved is always near,
His nursery will be of the best
With very many toys,
But maybe he'll discard them all
Like other little boys
And make a banging noise instead
With a saucepan and a spoon,
But little baby sleeping there,
Don't grow up too soon,
Stay awhile in Mummy's arms
And let her know the joy
And wonderment of gazing down
On her own, precious boy.
