MY BIRTHDAY
No ordinary day of mundane tasks,
No grey November this,
But hours of sparkling happiness
And moments of sheer bliss,
From early morn, till late at night,
Overwhelmed with loving care
And many birthday wishes too
From those who were not there,
A day of celebration,
But a quiet day nonetheless,
And filled with all life's simple things
That bring true happiness,
November turned to flaming June,
With it's warming Summer sun
And making this quite ordinary day
Into a perfect one,
To treasure in both heart and mind
The wishes, feelings too,
Expressions of love, both large and small,
Some old, some very new,
How valued are the smallest things,
Unexpected, seldom said,
But confirmation of the love
One knew, was far from dead.
