MOONLIGHT MADONNA

As a child I watched from a window,
This great luminescence of the night,
My silhouette, all I had for a companion,
In this strange, ethereal, silvered light.
I marvelled at the mystery before me,
A moonlight Madonna round and full,
Into my sleep the lady bore me,
But the light remained constant it didn’t dull.
A galleon was in my dream upon the ocean,
The sails were hardly astir, the sea was calm,
There came to me in my dream a slight commotion,
Two figures seemed to hover upon the ship.
Dressed they were from some age long forgotten,
She placed a slender finger upon her lip.
To her companion I saw her blow the briefest kiss,
Then they parted in the moonlights silver glow,
Who were the lovers? This I’ll never know,
As they watch somewhere from a distant window,
In the Madonna Moonlights luminescent glow!
