MISS YOU LAD

Oh “Duke” should I still miss you?
I know it’s been five weeks,
Should I still be slightly grieving?
With the occasional tear soaked cheeks.
How can I forget the day you died,
When I held your head close and
Stroked your smooth side.
One minute you were there,
The next you were suddenly gone,
I came through the door with you,
And left on my own, just one!
I sometimes long to take you,
To the places we both loved,
I see the dark clouds and wait for the
Break through, of the sun to brighten
the days, I see the sun ripened corn.
Where you stood, you,
You with your loveable ways,
You were fifteen and a quarter,
I know you needed to rest but,
I see you playing in the water,
In my mind, and know with you
I am truly blessed,
I’ll remember you soon with less
pain lad,  they do say that time alone
heals, I’ll remember the times we shared,
as some of the best times I ever had!
