IN RETROSPECT

How happy were those childhood days,
Joyful in so many ways,
In retrospect;
The school days were all filled with fun,
With friends to share them, every one,
In retrospect;
Then as into adults we grew,
The beaux were all so charming too,
In retrospect;
The pain of first love, yet so new,
Was that imagination too
In retrospect?
One wonders if they were dreams
And yet so vivid still it seems,
In retrospect;
The skies were blue, no cloud in sight
All Summer long from morn till night,
In retrospect:
The Wedding Day, a misty haze,
The honeymoon of carefree days,
In retrospect;
The first-born child so perfect too,
With rosebud mouth and skin like dew
In retrospect;
Re-living all those carefree days
Can teach us in so many ways
Look forward now;
To a future that can be as bright
Around the corner, out of sight,
Look forward now.
