An example every day,
That I may guide their footsteps
Along a happy way,
Help me to speak with gentle voice,
With never angry tone,
That they may come to learn, in time,
What gentle strength has shown,
Help me to show the standards
In my living, every day,
That they may find in future years,
A help along the way,
May my footsteps tread so softly,
Guiding gently, little feet,
Always loving and understanding
To each obstacle they meet,
May each patient little footstep,
That is shadowed by my own,
Know the trust with which he follows,
Is returned, and with love shown.
