BORROWED TIME
I have got the final verdict
I’ve been given it today.
I’m living now on borrowed time
That’s what the experts say.
I don’t know how much time I’ve got
It’s such a mixed up riddle.
Only just eight weeks ago
I felt as fit as a fiddle.
Then I contracted jaundice
And started to go yellow.
With cancer of the gall bladder
Ain’t I a lucky fellow?
But that’s enough of self-pity
I have got to live with it.
I must be strong and resolute
And show true British grit.
