BONUS DAY
Excitement reigns in pensioner land
It’s Christmas bonus day.
I’ll sing and dance and clap my hands
And shout hip, hip hooray.
This lump sum of ten quid I get,
To do with as I please.
Will help to buy my Christmas dinner,
Fish, chips and mushy peas.
Or I could invest it I suppose,
Or put it on a horse.
But backing our four legged friends,
Is open to remorse.
I might consider stocks and shares,
Or treble chance football pools.
Some food, drink and a coat of mink,
And a pair of household comfy mules.
So thank you Mr. Postmaster
For dishing out this extra pay.
And roll on next year,
For another Christmas bonus day.
