A WALK ALONG THE CLIFF

The air is so fresh with the smell of the sea
And the grass so smooth and green,
An air of tranquility abounds
In this wonderfully peaceful scene:
Along the bank the daffodils
Sway gently in the breeze
Like a splash of golden sunshine
Nestling beneath the trees:
The little path winds round and down,
First narrow, and then wide,
With shrubs and bushes here and there,
Wherein the wild birds hide:
Below the cliff the calm sea laps
In a rhythmic peaceful way
Tossing itself on pebbles and sand,
Then gently moving away.
As the path winds down to the shore below

It meanders through a small wood,
Where grow wild flowers underfoot
And robins wait for food:
Far into the distance there's only the sea
And it stretches to meet the blue sky,
Just like a seagull whirling overhead,
Or a lonely ship sailing by.
This is a spot to refresh the soul,
To meditate on life's spiritual things,
To drink in the beauty and breathe the sea air
And much inspiration it brings.
