ALBERTS STICK
You’ve all heard of Albert Ramsbottom
The lad wi the horses head stick.
Twas at Blackpool one year, he poked a lion in’t ear
And made lion feel terribly sick.
Albert was sorry the moment he’d done it
So he climbed through the bars of the cage.
To stroke lions nose which was daft I suppose
Because lion was still in a terrible rage.
But as soon as it felt Albert’s hand on its nose
Lion calmed down and started to purr.
Then it grabbed hold of Albert’s horses head stick
And tossed it high up into the air.
They say what goes up must come back down
Old Newton found that out wi apple.
But Albert hadn’t heard of earth’s gravity
So wi lion he’d started to grapple.
“I want mi stick back!” young Albert cried out
As they rolled over and over on the ground.
Then lion let out a gigantic loud roar
And poor Albert was deafened by sound.
Now Albert still suffering wi pain in his ear
He gave out one almighty shout.
You’ve made me feel sick now you’ve lost my stick
And that pleased the old lion no doubt.
